Michel ROUGE studied graphic art in Paris. After graduating, he started his cartoonist career for Vaillant publishers, in assisting André CHERET on “RAHAN” series.
In 1978, he started a long collaboration with RODOLPHE, creating titles such as “Les Ecluses du Ciel”. From 1985 to 1988 he illustrated the first two episodes of “Les Héros Cavaliers”, written by COTHIAS. In 1989, Michel GREG asked him to revive the series “COMANCHE”, a western that was, first, illustrated by HERMANN. In 2000, he illustrated one issue of the series "Marshall BLUEBERRY" Written by Jean GIRAUD. From 2006 he has launched a new historical series "SHIMON" in collaboration with Fred LEBERRE. This historical thriller that takes place in Samaria during the Roman occupation plunges us into fascinating investigations in a very tense political context under very marked clan ideologies.
Among the great masters of comics, Michel ROUGE is one of the most discreet. Very modest, he does not like to be put forward. And yet the spiritual quest of a very high level artist, intoxicated with discoveries and cultures such as Michel ROUGE is fascinating.
