Alain DODIER began his career in the fanzine Falatoff and in the Carte Blanche section of SPIROU. DODIER made his professional debut in the magazine Pistil in 1977 with the police series “JANOTUS, special agent” and the animal gag series MARTY & TITINE. In 1980, he teamed up with the scenarist Pierre Makyo to start the humorous historical series about the melancholic 'Gully' in MERCREDI and few month later in SPIROUS.
Dodier created the series about the clumsy detective Jérôme K. Jérôme Bloche in SPIROU in 1982. The first stories were created in cooperation with the writers Makyo and Serge Le Tendre. Endly, DODIER has continued the series on his own later on. Regarding the ambiance, the depicting of characters, the originality of the Hero and the popular success Jérôme k. Jérôme BLOCHE is one of the great successes of French comic series universe.
