Gallery Napoleon, a specialist on comic books

JANRY

JANRY, is probably, since the death of André Franquin and the retirement of Albert UDERZO, the greatest European Master of the semi-comic comics, modern evolution of the School of Marcinelle.  Rare and secret author, he is gifted with a prodigious talent. Janry is at his management what being Franquin to his own.

It is in a school of Graphic Arts that he meets his friend and future writer Philippe Tome. In the early 1980s, together they undertook the revival of the Adventures of Spirou and Fantasio. They will sign 15 albums in all, in a humorous style (with the exception of their last album, Machine qui rêve, released in 1998, drawn in a semi-realistic style, a first noticed in the history of the series).

In addition to the Adventures of Spirou and Fantasio, Tome & Janry created the Little Spirou in 1987, that is to say: Spirou when he was still a child. The series met with a rapid success, surpassing even that of the «great» Spirou. Janry also wrote the screenplays of the series Passe-moi l'ciel, designed by Stuf (Stéphane De Becker), the colorist of Spirou and Fantasio and Petit Spirou.

JANRY, seldom sells and seldom. If you are looking for a particular piece in the Artist’s work, we can pass on your request.
